DailyKos Sends Spam Emails Smearing Tulsi
Here is a Breakdown of their Lies About Tulsi Gabbard
The Congressional race for Hawaiʻi’s Second District is two years away but the establishment is weaponizing the race against Tulsi Gabbard’s Presidential run.
The following email was sent to all members of the DailyKos, a blogging site that has said to be bought out by a Hillary Clinton PAC prior to her failed 2016 run.
The “Term and Conditions” on the DailyKos site state:
“If you choose to provide your personal information by creating an account, purchasing a subscription, sending us an email, or filling out a contact form and submitting it through our website, you may receive emails from Kos Media, LLC related to Kos Media websites.”
This email was not about their website so it is simply spam. The Federal Trade Commission(FTC) says to forward unwanted or deceptive messages to the Federal Trade Commission at spam@uce.gov. Be sure to include the complete spam email, as well as reporting it to your email provider, for instance, you can File a spam report with google if you use Gmail.
The Rebuttal
Now for the breakdown of the content of the email.
Syria
As part of her long-standing efforts to end regime change war policy, Tulsi strongly opposes the illegal war to arm, fund, and train terrorist-aligned rebels in Syria to overthrow Assad.
It’s been proven time and time and time again that the rebellion in Syria was quickly taken over by jihadists intent of turning Syria into a caliphate. While these sects of extremists vied to establish themselves in Syria, they reaped terror on the people of Syria.

Meeting with Trump
Tulsi met with President-elect Donald Trump “In the hopes of basically trying to get to him before the neocon war hawks who were beating their war drums were able to exercise their influence over him”
They discussed our policies regarding Syria, our fight against terrorist groups like al-Qaeda and ISIS, as well as other foreign policy challenges we face.
No job was offered despite the wishful thinking of antiwar independents who voted for Trump.
Tulsi wrote of their meeting: “It would have been easier for me to refuse this meeting. The establishment and social media have been talking about this all day. But I never have and never will play politics with American and Syrian lives.”
Bannon
Bannon has a history of attempting to delegitimize Progressive Democrats by liking them.
Tulsi rebuked Bannon with the following words: “Trump’s so-called populism has been a fraud. True populism means standing up, fighting for the interests of all the American people, not the big corporations and the 1 (percent). Real populism is caring for all the American people, regardless of race, political party, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.”
The ban on Assault Weapons
This claim is completely false.
In working towards enacting real gun control measures, Tulsi is focusing on bipartisan measures that have a chance of actually becoming passed into law, rather than using the issue as a political football.

- H.R. 2670 Protecting Domestic Violence and Stalking Victims Act ensuring domestic violence perps can’t buy firearms
- H. Res 370 to require legislative hearings in response to gun violence tragedies
- H.R. 4365 Domestic Violence Loophole Closure Act
- H.R. 5576 Terrorist Firearms Prevention Act
- H.R. 226 Keeping Guns from High Risk Individuals Act
- H.R. 1745 Support Assault Firearms Elimination and Reduction for our Streets Act
- NO vote on H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act
“Hindu Nationalists”
This smear angle is based entirely upon trying to assign guilt by religious affiliation, using Tulsi’s chosen faith to tie her in ways that are not assigned to any other leaders who met with the Indian prime minister Narendra Modi.
“Both in India and here in the US, I have held meetings with members of both the BJP and the Congress Party. As a member of the US Congress, my interest is in helping produce a closer relationship between the United States and India, not just between the United States and one political party of India. I have no affiliation with the RSS. Sometimes people on both sides, for their own purposes, try to say I somehow favor, or am part, of the BJP or take photos of me at Indian events and circulate them for their own promotional reasons. But the fact is, I’m not partial to BJP, the Congress Party, or any other particular political party in India.”
In addition, this article breaks down the smears by Eoin Higgins and the Intercept regarding donors with Hindu names.
Criticized Obama
It is widely accepted that then President Obama’s strategies in the Middle East concerning regime change and the arming groups associated with terrorism and radical extremism has resulted in the rise of more suffering for the citizens of several countries such as; Syria, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, and others.
Voted Against Syrian Refugees
When looking at how to vote on this measure, I considered two things: 1) the safety and security of the American people, and 2) the long term viability and continuation of our country serving as a place of refuge for those who are truly in need of shelter.
It would be a double disaster if someone who came to America as a refugee ended up engaging in a terrorist act. First, it would cost the lives of innocent Americans. Second, it could lead to the complete shutdown of our refugee program for a long, long time. This would be extremely unfortunate. I want to make sure that doesn’t happen. It’s important for anyone who really cares about keeping our refugee programs open to seriously consider the negative impact to such programs if a terrorist attack occurred and a refugee was involved.
…The statement in The Hill by my Democratic colleague Representative Gerry Connolly best expressed my feelings:
The argument, “Well, yes, this would make the vetting process safer but we just don’t have the staff to do it,” was simply not good enough for me..,
Our government’s decision in 2011 to overthrow and replace the Syrian government of Assad is what has led to the rise and strengthening of ISIS and other Islamic extremist groups and in turn the Syrian refugee crisis. The reality is that the U.S. Syrian refugee program will have very little impact on the problem of millions of Syrians who are suffering and displaced by that illegal war.
Putting it bluntly, our refugee program and commitment to bring into the U.S. 10,000 refugees from Syria appears to me to be little more than a salve on the conscience of our leaders whose interventionist policies have resulted in millions of Syrians being killed, wounded, maimed, or made homeless. The U.S. war to overthrow the Syrian government of Assad is creating more refugees in a single week than we plan to bring to the U.S. in an entire year.
The most humane thing that we can do is stop this illegal, counterproductive war, focus on defeating ISIS, and make it so that Syria is a place where people can live once again.

Tulsi has a 100% voting record with both Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America.

The Motive
One must also look at the DailyKos’ motive behind publishing this attack.
Tulsi Gabbard criticized the debate schedule during the 2016 primaries and later stepped down from the DNC in protest of their treatment of Sanders and to endorse him as the primary candidate of choice.
The DailyKos was one of the main rallying points for the pro-Hillary crowd. In 2016, Daily Kos endorsed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for President and raised over $1 million for its endorsed candidates.
DailyKos has also been accused of pay for play blogging. Slate criticized the Daily Kos for non-disclosure of which political candidates had paid Moulitsas and said he had previously criticized this exact same thing about conservative bloggers.
The establishment fears an antiwar populist Democrat candidate like Tulsi Gabbard and will lie and cheat to elect someone who will bring incrementally change.
I would suggest donating to her campaign to help her fight back against the smears and encourage your favorite media personalities to do the right thing and interview Tulsi to get the full story that the smear articles are not getting.
